Chapter Nineteen

Alitha

Eventually Phina left, taking the swirling mass of darkness with her.

I wasn’t angry with her. I was angry with myself.

The door opened, and a smell I wasn’t even aware I knew so well preceded the sight of Arold. His eyes were hard, just like him. As he walked in, I couldn’t help but marvel at the way he moved. Light-footed, silent against the carpeted floor. He was indeed masculine perfection, it was almost unfair.

“You are up.” He made this statement just as he reached the side of my bed. His eyes crinkling at the sides slightly, “You will lay down.”

I slowly shook my head, gathering my hand in my lap. “I want to sit up,” I looked passed him, over the shoulder. “Ciar didn’t come?”

“Mine,” he called me by that annoying name. I frowned at him, he leaned down closing the space between us. His hands placed near my legs on the bed, I could feel the warmth of his body radiating out to my skin. “You are being disobedient.”

A brow went up at that. I chew over what he said mentally. “Disobedient, you say? Does that mean you’ll ensure that I get kidnapped a second time?”

Surprise covered his face, he straightened abruptly. “Who told?”

“The Spaniard,” I frowned, “Well not really he just said one minute he couldn’t get a chance and the next? Boom, suddenly none of your men were watching me.” I focused on him, “By your reaction, I would say I was right.”

“You do not hate us?” Arold stared down at me like I was the most confusing person he’d ever met. And for the life of me, I couldn’t help but find it amusing. Did they want me terrified, running through the hallways ripping my hair out?

No, that wasn’t it. The two were probably more intent on making me “listen” to them.

“She doesn’t know she should,” Ah, there was Ciar. He strode in with a cocky grin, though it didn’t reach his eyes. Unlike Arold, who wore a soft black T-shirt, and sweat pants. He wore a button-down white shirt and jeans.

How uncomfortable.

I rolled my eyes at this remark, “I know very well, you two are not the men my mother wished me to date,” I looked them both over, “Well, it’s not exactly dating is it?”

“You have a smart mouth, for someone who just got whipped?” Ciar said, as he entered the room walked around the bed to stand on the other side of it. “Shouldn’t you be mass of whimpers and hysteria?”

“I don’t know, you tell me Ciar,” I said growing irritated, “How should I react to you and your brother allowing some thugs to kidnap me and play donkey with my back?!”

His hand lashed out, and he grabbed me by the jaw. The violent move was sudden, and I felt my heart give a thump. His eyes were narrowed, as his fingers dug into my cheek. “Grateful…You should be grateful. You should kiss our fucking feet, that we didn’t leave you to be torn apart by them.
